Is He Dame Diddy, Dame Daddy, Or Dame Dummy?

I think Nas said it best in the classic “Ether” diss song back in 2001, “Is He Dame Diddy, Dame Daddy, Or Dame Dummy”.

Of course I am talking about the one and only Mr Dame Dash, for those who do not know, Dame Dash is a music manager/entrepreneur/executive producer. Along with Kareem “Biggs” Burke, and Sean Carter a.k.a Jay-Z, they started the infamous record label Roc-A-Fella records back in 1996, the record label help launch the careers of rappers Jay-Z, Memphis Bleek, Beanie Sigel, Freeway, and Kanye West. In 2004 Dame Dash and Jay-Z decided to part ways as business partners for Roc-A-Fella records.

So lets fast forward 11 years later, 2 weeks ago Dame Dash appeared on the New York City radio show 105.1 “The Breakfast Club’ hosted by DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God, Dame came onto to the radio show going back and forth with Dj Envy about not working at a job and being your own boss. Dame Dash said things like “A real man don’t call another man boss”, “Saving money is stupid to him”, and saying some other ignorant statements in a very cocky, condescending way. Basically he feels working a job, earning a paycheck is stupid and beneath him, and that people should be their own bosses.

First of all, I will like to say, is this world is revolved around people working 9-5 jobs, if everyone were their own boss, how would businesses exist, such as restaurants, schools, retail stores, record labels, hospitals, etc, employees are needed 100%. Imagine going to a restaurant and there is no one to serve your drinks or food, you go to a store and there is no one to check you out at the register or help you find items, no one to clean the bathroom facilities. Even CEO’s at these multi million dollar companies have bosses too, even musicians have bosses, the consumers are their bosses, if people don’t buy their records, they don’t sell, simple as that. For someone who is an executive producer/music manager, shouldn’t he know this? His logic in his statements had no logic for most part. Now I understand wanting to start your own business and wanting to aim for the top, but we all start off somewhere. Unless you are doing illegal activity, or have money passed down to you from family, where do you have the money to be your own boss?

You need a job realistically. I guess Mr Dame Dash forgot about that. Lol. People can check out the Dame Dash Breakfast Club interview below this post, and judge for themselves on his “No Job” talk.
